Artist Diploma

Admission requirements:

The Third Advanced Cycle is open to students who have obtained the Master’s diploma with “Très Bien” (Highest Honors) from the École Normale de Musique de Paris without an entrance audition. The program lasts two years.

Students who have obtained the Master’s diploma with “Bien” (Honors) may be denied access to the Artist Diploma and instead be directed toward a one-year advanced training program. Upon completion of this program, if they wish to join the Artist Diploma course, these students must pass the entrance audition required for external applicants.

Students who have obtained the Master’s diploma with “Très Bien avec les félicitations du jury” (Highest Honors with Distinction) may be exempted from the first year of preparation for the Artist Diploma, provided they have the approval of their professor and the academic director. This exemption must be granted before the Christmas break.

In all cases, enrollment in the Artist Diploma is subject to approval by the academic director.

For new students who have not completed the Second Advanced Cycle at ENMP, they must hold at least a Second Advanced Cycle diploma (Master’s degree or equivalent) from a French or international music institution in the chosen discipline, or demonstrate a distinguished career (Recognition of Prior Learning – V.A.E., exceptional career, or laureate of international competitions). They must also undergo an audition and interview as part of the entrance examination.

Eligibility is based on an application file including:

  • CV
  • Copy of previously obtained diplomas
  • Motivation letter (in French or English)
  • A video recording including three excerpts from works of different periods and styles, with no edits or effects, hands and face visible
  • A French language certificate at CEFR A2 level (to be provided no later than the end of the first year of studies)

Applications must be submitted between February 15 and July 20, 2025, for enrollment in 2025-2026 (2 sessions: from 15/02/2025 to 31/05/2025, and from 01/06/2025 to 20/07/2025). Selected candidates will be invited to the entrance examination, which will take place in September-October (with multiple possible sessions). The audition program is free-choice and must last between 20 and 30 minutes. Candidates are allowed to apply a maximum of two times.
