A prestigious setting in the heart of Paris
Since 1924, the École normale de musique de Paris has occupied the Hôtel particulier Allard du Cholet, an exceptional building located in the 17th arrondissement, in the heart of the Plaine Monceau. This district, renowned for its elegance and rich architectural heritage, is an ideal environment for artistic and intellectual development.
Renaissance and 18th-century architecture
Built in 1881 by architect Léopold Cochet for Count Rozars, the hôtel particulier Allard du Cholet is inspired by Renaissance and 18th-century styles. Its refined architecture and sumptuous decor make it emblematic of the Parisian art of living at the end of the 19th century. The building’s sculpted façade and balanced volumes bear witness to the care taken in its design.
A listed heritage
Some of the hotel’s outstanding features are now listed as Historic Monuments. These include the Salle Munch, a true acoustic and architectural gem, which hosts numerous rehearsals and concerts. The grand staircase, with its finely wrought ironwork and vast proportions, embodies the elegance of the place and is a precious witness to the refinement of the period.
